BMW Classic Café

On the listed BMW site on Moosacherstrasse in Munich, CBA planned the redesign of the existing Classic Café. The elongated space, to which a small museum is also attached, extends from Moosacherstrasse to the inner courtyard.
BMW internal and external visitors are offered breakfast and small meals here in addition to the café operation. The small café is also the end point of the guided tours through the archive halls of BMW Classics.

The center of the room is formed by the bar and sales counter, which is clad with reflective surfaces. This visually breaks up the massive block. The distinctive polished stainless steel edges on the fixtures in the existing building are retained and, as a recurring element, form an important part of the material concept of the interior.
The long, continuous wall creates a reference to BMW Classics. The repeating, oversized black and white photo of a BMW 3.0 CSL is the defining element of the interior design, which radiates through the large arched windows into the exterior space, especially in the evening. A glass exhibition showcase was integrated into the wall, displaying various BMW art cars.

Office space Accenture Munich

CBA planned the new office space with a total area of 14,000m2 on the campus of the “Neue Balan” in Munich for the globally active consulting company Accenture. The challenge of the project was to combine several sub-companies of Accenture at one location and in one design concept. The large areas were structured and organized through a city-like concept. The result is an office that combines the themes of work, communication, interaction and recreation in three buildings in an innovative way.

An interior concept had to be developed which could be implemented on a few thousand square meters and still respond to the needs of the individual companies. An urban planning approach in which the elements of a city such as parks, plazas and neighborhoods were interpreted in terms of interior architecture finally formed the basis of the design, which optimally implements Accenture’s New Work requirements.

The existing buildings dictated the industrial look of the interior. Modern, high-quality surfaces were deliberately contrasted with the rough, white concrete surfaces. Uses in the buildings resulted from the geometries of the existing buildings. The parks and plazas were deliberately placed in the respective connecting corners of the U-shaped ensemble to create short distances and to promote communication and interaction among the employees. The project was implemented with local and regional craftsmen as far as possible.

The clear configuration of the areas, similar to urban development, makes it easy to find your way around the building. Parks and plazas are located where the buildings meet. The most public areas, such as the Connect Space and the Campus Max, are located on the ground floor.

Semi-detached houses Vaterstetten

Two semi-detached houses are planned on a spacious plot in Munich Vaterstetten. Due to the cross gable form of the volumnes, a strong relationship between the buildings and the surrounding gardens is created on all sides. The two almost identical houses vary only in size and appear like a larger and smaller twin.

Wallenstein Quartier

The concept of the Wallenstein Quartier project is based on three hill-like buildings which are arranged offset to each other. The height topography of the three volumes develops from a green area and follows the distance requirements. This results in roof terraces that offer a view of the neighborhood and the park. Different apartment typologies up to row houses are planned in the three buildings.

Office space AVIAM

A new office space was designed for the project developer AVIAM in Munich Grünwald. An almost homely atmosphere with a central communication area as a meeting point for the employees was desired. Although planned as an open space, the workplaces were to have very good acoustics. For this purpose, heavy velvet curtains were used along the corridor with a high sound-absorbing effect.
The CI blue of AVIAM was contrasted with an orange copper tone as a complementary color.

Hospitality stadium SV Darmstadt 98

The hospitality area in the new stadium of SV Darmstadt 98 extends over two levels. The symmetrical floor plan is divided by different seating areas as well as the lounges, bars and buffets along the outer sides. Suspended acoustic elements guide guests from the entrance into the business club. Simple materials such as wood, galvanized steel or rough concrete convey an industrial atmosphere and create a link to the architecture of the stands in the stadium.
The upper floor will be designed as an open communication zone with a lounge area and a Family and Friends area.

Finca Lanzarote

The concept envisages that the existing volumes of the finca will be extended by additional cubes. Glass joints separate these from the existing building. Irregular window openings along the facades provide a view of the impressive lava landscape. The security of the house contrasts with the seemingly endless expanse of the surroundings. The white cubes shine in the otherwise dark gray, black color scheme of the lava landscape and create an almost surreal image.

Restaurant Bavarie BMW Welt

The project provides for the conversion of the largest restaurant in BMW Welt in Munich. Following the gastronomic concept of a Bavarian brasserie, the areas were redesigned in a loosened, informal manner in terms of interior architecture. Thus, different seating options are mixed along the large window areas. Smaller niches, which can be separated by curtains, offer the possibility of separate booking. Warm, restrained colors, materials and surfaces contrast with the rather technical architecture of BMW Welt.

Exhibition CBA15

CBA Clemens Bachmann Architekten has been working on a wide variety of projects in the fields of architecture, interior design and design for 15 years. The contents of the projects are as different as the respective approach. The methodology varies and adapts to the task at hand. Initial design concepts, for example, are developed on the basis of physical concept and volume models, and are tested and further developed through diagrams, photomontages and 3D visualizations.

Consequently, the office sees itself more as an architectural workshop and less as a classic planning office. In the hall-like office space, presentation walls mix with plans, drawings, renderings as well as models in various scales. All this always reflects the current design status of the individual projects. The concept of the exhibition, with its walls and their contents arranged as if at random, as well as the large-scale model tables, attempts to reflect this.

The daily project work is characterized by the heterogeneity of the respective design tasks. Thus, there is a constant change between new buildings and renovations, interior design for soccer stadiums and offices, to temporary buildings such as exhibition stands. This, too, represents the concept of the exhibition by avoiding clear zoning in terms of content. The projects “collide” with each other and are put on display without comment.

ARCHITECTURE
The space is zoned and divided into functional areas by sea pine panels set up in a v-shape. The exhibition walls, which are rotated out of the grid, serve to present the projects. An auditorium with a large projection screen opposite the entrance is used for lectures. This area is additionally set apart from the rest of the exhibition space by a carpeted island.

Architectural models for each project are displayed on large wooden tables in the center of the space and next to the entrance.

The industrial ceiling with a multitude of building services fixtures remains visible, underscoring the restrained, improvised-looking exhibition architecture. The existing lighting of the space, a simple suspended fluorescent tube grid serves to illuminate the space.

Foiled floor strips mark the three core projects of the exhibition and follow the grid of the exhibition walls with their 45 degree angle.

Public library München

The temporary Munich City Library, designed as a sequence of differently colored rooms, contrasts with the otherwise white, cool and technical architecture of the existing building. The different colors create an identification of the individual departments of the library like the children and youth area ,the family library or the gaming zone. Due to the location within the store city of the Motorama, the library becomes a highly public transit space which is open until late in the evening.
Simple materials and surfaces follow the concept of a temporary facility.

House S

An existing house in Munich is to be renovated and extended. For this purpose, the structural typology of the adjacent bungalow in the form of a horizontally oriented building is adopted as a concept for the extension. The roofs projecting on three sides refer to the significant form of the bungalow. The inner courtyards are taken up again in the form of air spaces in the new concept for the existing building.
