House M

The building represents the layering of two-house typologies. The ground floor was designed as a bungalow, supporting the volume of a detached house. In this way, the client’s wish to live in bungalow was met, while still accommodating all the necessary rooms in a room plan for a family of four. The ground floor was retained as a very open, spacious area for the family to gather and live, while the upper floor bedrooms and bathrooms were arranged around a central mezzanine opening. The layering of the volumes can also be seen in the façade design. While the ground floor was made of exposed concrete, the upper floor, with its plaster finish, has a more discreet appearance.
